Embryonic aneuploidies refer to chromosomal alterations in embryos. An aneuploidy consists of an imbalance in the number of chromosomes and is quite frequent in human embryos.
Specifically, one in three embryos has aneuploidies originating during gamete formation or after fertilization.
The age of the woman is a risk factor for embryonic aneuploidy. Therefore, as the maternal age increases, the greater the probability of obtaining embryos with a chromosomal alteration.
