If I have had a miscarriage, can it happen again the next time I have a pregnancy?

By Elena Izquierdo Trechera M.D., M.Sc. (gynecologist).
Last Update: 03/08/2022

Approximately one in five pregnancies are terminated in the first trimester and are followed by subsequent normal pregnancies.

In the case of two or more miscarriages, it is advisable to perform a complete study of both members of the couple to diagnose possible causes and prescribe appropriate treatments.
