Maternal blood test to determine baby’s sex noninvasively

It is possible to perform a blood test on the pregnant woman, from the 8th week of gestation, in order to determine the sex of the baby she is expecting. This is a non-invasive method that analyzes the fetal DNA fragments present in the woman's blood.

Thus, if the presence of the Y chromosome is detected, it is determined that the woman is expecting a boy. On the other hand, if the Y chromosome is not detected, the woman is pregnant with a girl.

This type of non-invasive prenatal testing using maternal blood is becoming increasingly popular, as it allows the analysis of certain fetal chromosomes, especially when the risk of an abnormality is high. However, it can be performed by any woman, as it is a non-invasive method that does not pose any risks.
