Can a regular blood test detect STDs?

I had unprotected sex the last month with various guys and I’m a little worried I might have caught something. My vagina itches and my vaginal discharge is different, it’s also smelly.

I don’t know if I just go to my regular GP or to the gyn. Help would be appreciated!!

  2. Hello Sheila,

depending on the type of STD’s, a blood test or urine test can be done. For example, for herpes, hepatitis or HIV a small blood test will be carried out.

On the other hand, if you get yourself tested for chlamydia or gonorrhea, the doctor will ask you to hand out an urine sample.

    Hope this helps,
    best
