Hello Doc, my egg donor cycle starts in a few months but before that I’ll have an endometrial biopsy done in order to analyze it and she if everything is ok. But why it’s done? I mean, what’s the purpose? What’s the worst thing it may indicate? Thanks for your help.

By “endometrium” we mean the lining of the uterus, and it is the location where the embryo implants and leads to a successful pregnancy. An endometrial biopsy allows us to analyze the cells that form this tissue in order to rule out any abnormality or alteration that may reduce the chances of embryo implantation.
It also allows us to detect the presence of cancer cells, uterine fibroids, uterine polyps, or excess thickening caused by hormonal imbalances. The main goal is to identity and solve any problem that may compromise the egg donation process.
I look forward to the success of your treatment.
Best regards
