Hello,
I have PCOS since 2007 (it’s been 8 years now) and now that I’m 33 I want to have a baby, but the problem is I’ve heard risk for your baby developing autism increases if you have PCOS, and apart from that I had an ovarian wedge resection done 3 years ago, which I think does not help reducing my chances of transmitting autism to my baby, am I right? Please, let me know for sure, because I’m seriously considering moving to donor eggs, given all the risks involved in using my own eggs…
Thank you,
Wishing all you the best 😉

To date, women suffering from PCOS do not necessarily need to resort to donor eggs. Usually, women who are indicated to turn to egg donation are those whose ovaries are missing or damaged, those with low or impaired ovarian reserve, in case you are at risk of transmitting any genetic abnormality to offspring or if you’re medically unable to undergo controlled ovarian stimulation. Otherwise, there’s no reason why moving to donor eggs.
As for the risk of autism, unfortunately this disorder cannot be detected through pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD); however, ask your doctor which are his recommendations in this case, since studies have not proven any specific recommendation regarding this issue yet.
Hope this helps
