Hi Sandra,
I am now 16 dpt after a 2-embryo transfer. This was my first try with donor egg IVF… Yesterday, I did my beta-hCG blood test and the result for my hCG blood level was 151.2 IU/L, so in principle I am pregnant, but I think this is a bit low, what do you think? Tomorrow is my first appointment with my OB/GYN. Anyway, I’ve no idea if she will tell me whether this is an encouraging result or not… I don’t want my pregnancy to be at risk of miscarriage but I also wouldn’t like to have a twin pregnancy. What are my chances? Any help? Thank you so much!!02/27/2016 at 12:36 pmDear silverlinings89,
beta hCG results in early pregnancy usually reach 15 and 1000 miU/ml and 46-1600 mIU/ml during the second week. To know whether your pregnancy is developing as it should or not, you’ll have to measuring regularly hCG levels every two days, since hCG levels double every 48 hours. Thus, even though your beta-hCG result is apparently fine, but it needs further evaluation to see how it continues to increase.
Likewise, you should wait to visit your gynecologist, because there you will have an ultrasound scan done to see if everything is developing adequately. In case you are carrying twins, you will be able to see it by ultrasound scan. By now, the results shown on your beta-hCG blood test are not so high as to suspect that you are carrying twins.

I hope I have been able to help,
