X-linked recessive diseases

In X-linked recessive inheritance diseases, females must inherit both copies of the mutated gene to have the disease (they will be carriers if they inherit only one copy of the mutated gene).

However, males with one copy of the mutated gene (as they only have one X chromosome) will have the disease.

Some examples of diseases with this type of inheritance are mentioned in the picture.
