Cravings and aversions in pregnancy

The hormonal changes inherent to pregnancy and the sharpening of the sense of smell and taste mean that pregnant women can develop cravings and aversions to food, and this is quite common.

Cravings are an exaggerated appetite for a food or dish, while aversions are the rejection of a food (even because of its smell) that was previously eaten on a regular basis.

However, if the pregnant woman experiences this change in food preferences, it is important to ensure that her diet remains varied and balanced to avoid nutritional deficiencies.
