IMSI is a cutting-edge technique used in assisted reproduction that allows specialists to increase the overall success rates of IVF in cases of severe male infertility.
IMSI stands for Intracytoplasmic Morphologically Selected Sperm Injection, and is a type of ICSI where the sperms are observed using a special lens for the microscope: 6000x magnification instead of 400x.
Amongst the main benefits of IMSI, it allows the embryologist to see defects in the head of sperms, and to select those that have an excellent morphology, which increases the implantation and pregnancy rates.
