Systemic lupus erythematosus is an autoimmune disease whose cause is unknown. There are studies that seem to indicate that the disease is due to a combination of genetic and environmental factors.
However, there are certain factors that can trigger the development of lupus. For example, hormonal changes or viral infections could be a reason for lupus. In addition, a family history of autoimmune diseases, stress or solar radiation could also trigger this pathology.
