Systemic lupus erythematosus or SLE is an autoimmune disease that causes tissue inflammation. There is no cure for this disease and it is not contagious.
The most representative symptom of lupus is the butterfly-shaped rash on the face, but there are also other clinical manifestations of the disease. For example, lupus is also characterized by extreme fatigue, unexplained fever, joint pain (arthritis), photosensitivity or iron deficiency.
