The luteal phase of the menstrual cycle has an average duration of 14 days, being more stable than the follicular phase. Thus, in a typical menstrual cycle with a duration of 28 days, the luteal phase would extend from day 14 (the day on which ovulation would occur) to day 28 (the last day of the menstrual cycle before the arrival of the next menstruation).
