The epididymis, vas deferens and urethra are sperm ducts whose function is to transport spermatozoa to the outside. When a trauma or infection occurs in any of these pathways, an obstruction may occur. As a consequence, the sperm will not be able to follow their path and will not be able to exit the body.
In addition, males diagnosed with cystic fibrosis usually have both vas deferens absent. This causes obstructive azoospermia in the male.
