The morning-after pill, also known as emergency pill, is an emergency contraceptive method that should only be used in specific cases, such as when a barrier contraceptive method has failed or an oral pill has been forgotten. This method of hormonal contraception was originally designed for women who have been raped.
The morning-after pill is therefore taken after intercourse when there is a risk of unwanted pregnancy. The morning-after pill can be either a single dose or double dose. Its effectiveness decreases over time since intercourse and its effectiveness is not 100%.
