A caesarean section is a surgical procedure that can pose risks to both mother and baby. Some of the main maternal risks of caesarean section include:
- Adverse effects of anaesthesia.
- Injury to nearby organs, such as the bladder.
- Infection.
- Heavy bleeding
- Blood clots.
On the other hand, the risk of possible placenta-related complications may be higher in a subsequent pregnancy after a caesarean section.
