Why does hair change during pregnancy?

During pregnancy, the hormonal changes that occur as a normal part of pregnancy can also cause a woman's hair to look different. These changes in the hair are usually more evident from the second trimester of pregnancy, due to the increase in estrogen.

These hormones will help the hair to grow, thus delaying hair loss. Therefore, women will notice that their hair is thicker and more abundant during pregnancy.
