Assisted Reproduction for HIV-infected couples

Thanks to ART people infected with HIV can become parents without the risk of transmitting the virus to their partners and children. Treatment will depend on who is HIV-positive:

Man with HIV
sperm washing will be necessary, as viral particles can be transmitted through semen. Then, the sperm sample will be used in an artificial insemination or IVF-ICSI so that the woman becomes pregnant.
Woman with HIV
in this case it will be enough to do an artificial insemination if the requirements for it are met. Since semen is introduced directly into a woman's uterus, there is no risk of contagion from unprotected sexual intercourse.
