Follicular puncture consists of a very simple surgical procedure in which an aspiration needle is inserted vaginally and the developed ovarian follicles are emptied in an ultrasound-guided manner.
The follicular fluid obtained from the aspiration is inspected under the microscope to look for the eggs it contains and to retrieve them.
