One of the most stressful moments in an in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment is the so-called two-week wait (the period of time it is necessary to wait until taking the pregnancy test).
In case of pregnancy, although beta hCG can be detectable in maternal blood about 6-8 days after fertilization, the ultrasound that detects the heartbeat is not performed until week 6 of gestation.
