The seminal microbiome could have repercussions on male fertility, and can be beneficial or detrimental to achieving pregnancy. It has been observed that profiles rich in lactobacilli are related to better sperm DNA integrity.
On the other hand, a profile with an abundance of anaerobic bacteria would be related to greater sperm DNA fragmentation.
