Oily fish is recommended for pregnant women, as it has a high content of omega-3 fatty acids. However, it is necessary to pay attention to what type of fish is eaten during pregnancy, since some of them have high amounts of mercury that would be harmful to maternal and fetal health.
Therefore, bluefin tuna, emperor or smoked fish would not be indicated during pregnancy. Raw fish and sushi should not be eaten during pregnancy either.
