Midpiece defects in sperm

Sperm morphological defects in the neck or midpiece can affect or prevent them from swimming properly. Sperm cells need to have their heads up and upright. Otherwise, they may have issues traveling to the egg cell, not to mention penetrating and finally fertilizing it.
