Cystitis may occur in 1.5% of pregnancies, most commonly in the second trimester of gestation. Among its main symptoms are:
- Pain or burning when urinating.
- Increased frequency of urination.
- Sensation of needing to urinate urgently.
- Pain in the upper pubic area.
- Cloudy or even bloody urine.
However, to confirm the diagnosis, a urine culture will be performed on the woman. In any case, to prevent the infection from worsening, the specialist may recommend starting antibiotic treatment before the results are available.
