Although pregnancy is one of the most known causes for a delay in menstruation, there are other possible reasons. Among them, we can mention the following:
- Elite sports.
- Thyroid alterations.
- Rapid weight changes.
- Stress.
- Some medications.
- Lactation.
In addition, irregular cycles are also possible during the first year after the first menstruation. Thus, menstrual delays are relatively common in adolescents, until the menstrual cycle becomes more regular
