Fetal development at month 3 of pregnancy

The third month of pregnancy covers weeks 10, 11, 12, 13, and 14 of pregnancy.

Throughout this stage, the risk of miscarriage diminishes to a large extent, and it is expected that the woman gains between 900 and 1,300 g in weight.

The beginning of month 3 marks the beginning of the fetal period. In other words, the term embryo is not used anymore; instead, the unborn child is named fetus.Although the genitalia start to be distinguishable, it is still too early to determine whether it is a boy or a girl.
