Oligohydramnios is an alteration in the amount of amniotic fluid, in which the volume is decreased. Therefore, the specialist may suspect oligohydramnios if the uterus is smaller than would be appropriate for the woman's gestational age.
However, for the diagnosis of oligohydramnios the specialist will calculate the Amniotic Fluid Index (ALI), which should be less than 5 cm.
