What is anamnesis?

Anamnesis is a set of data about a patient's medical history. Its purpose is to be able to establish a diagnosis and the best treatment for the patient.

The data that are part of the anamnesis of a patient is usually the following:

  • Identification data: name, surname, gender, etc.
  • Reason for consultation.
  • Personal history such as previous surgeries, illnesses....
  • Family history.
  • Physical examination.

However, the specialist may ask for other information that may be helpful in establishing the cause of the problem.
