The area of the baby's bottom, which is covered by the diaper, may present a type of dermatitis known as diaper rash. The direct contact of the skin with urine and feces and the wetness causes this irritation and discomfort for the baby.
However, diaper rash can be prevented if some tips such as the following are taken into account:
- Change the diaper frequently.
- Wash the area with mild soap and water.
- Dry with light touches, taking special care to leave the skin folds dry.
- Do not tighten the diaper too tightly, to allow ventilation.
In addition, if the diaper area has started to become irritated, a specific diaper rash cream can be used.
