Currently, hospital protocols most commonly choose to delay the time at which the first bath is given to the baby. This avoids giving the first bath to the newborn in the first 24 hours of life and does not take place until the baby is 2-3 days old. In this way, the protection of the vernix caseosa covering the baby's skin is extended.
On the other hand, it is not recommended to bathe the baby daily. It is sufficient to do it about 3 times a week, as long as the baby's bottom and skin folds are kept clean. However, as the baby grows, more frequent bathing may be necessary.
