How to proceed before performing the embryo transfer, regarding whether or not it is beneficial to remove the cervical mucus before accessing the uterus to deposit the embryo (or embryos), has been a matter of debate and controversy.
On the one hand, it is thought that removing the cervical mucus can be beneficial so as not to alter the environment inside the uterus. However, it is also thought that it could cause uterine contractions that affect embryo implantation.
