Although there is much talk about a possible interaction between antibiotics and oral contraceptives, for most antibiotics there is not enough scientific evidence to prove that they do affect the efficacy of hormonal contraceptives.
However, rifampicin and rifabutin have been shown to decrease the hormonal levels of the contraceptive in the blood and thus reduce its efficacy.
