The tests to evaluate sperm DNA fragmentation would be TUNEL, SCSA, SCD, and Comet. However, it would not be recommended to perform this type of test on all patients. The cases in which there would be an indication to perform it are:
- Unexplained infertility.
- Failures in previous assisted reproduction treatments.
- Recurrent miscarriage.
- Varicocele.
- Advanced paternal age.
- Genital tract infection.
In addition, it would also be recommended with exposure to toxins and in states of systemic oxidative stress (obesity, diabetes, smoking...).
