Women with type 2 diabetes who are taking oral diabetes treatment should switch from pills to insulin if they become pregnant. This is because some drugs can have effects on the foetus.
If a woman has type 1 diabetes and is taking insulin, she will continue with this treatment. However, her doctor may decide to change the dosage and increase it until delivery.
