The didelphic uterus is a uterine malformation characterized by the presence of two independent uterine cavities. For this reason, this type of uterus is known as double uterus.
This uterine anomaly occurs because the Müllerian ducts do not fuse, but develop completely. Among uterine malformations, the didelphic uterus is not one of the most frequent.
In relation to female fertility, the didelphic uterus does not alter the woman's reproductive capacity. However, this type of uterus can cause some complications in gestation, either repeated miscarriages, preterm delivery or complicated deliveries.
