Exercise, when practiced in moderation, has many health benefits, as well as positive effects on semen quality and male fertility.
However, when exercise is performed at very high intensity, as occurs in athletes and other competitive sportspeople, semen quality can be affected. This may be due to a decrease in testosterone levels and an increase in oxidative stress, which can impair semen quality and increase sperm DNA fragmentation.
