By measuring the beta-hCG hormone in the blood, it is possible to suspect an ectopic pregnancy from the fifth week of gestation onwards when there is no adequate increase in this hormone.
Normally, the amount of beta-hCG hormone in the blood doubles approximately every two days. If this does not happen, it may be suspected that something is not developing correctly.
