How can I have a baby without a male partner?

By Marta Barranquero Gómez B.Sc., M.Sc. (embryologist).
Last Update: 04/24/2025

Thanks to assisted reproductive techniques, women who decide to become single mothers or couples of women can have a baby. To do so, donor sperm must be used and an assisted reproductive technique such as artificial insemination or in vitro fertilization must be performed.

There is also the possibility of embryo adoption. In this case, the embryos left over from IVF treatment of other patients will be donated for reproductive purposes.
