Is curettage necessary in case of incomplete abortion?

By Andrea Rodrigo B.Sc., M.Sc. (embryologist).
Last Update: 02/15/2022

Yes, it is generally recommended to wash the abortive remains if they have not been completely expelled.

Curettage allows for the removal of any remaining fetal tissue, thus avoiding possible infections.
