Inflammation of the cervix is called cervicitis. This inflammation can occur acutely or chronically, and the most common causes are infections by microorganisms such as chlamydia, gonorrhea, and genital herpes. However, cervicitis can also have a non-infectious cause, such as an allergic reaction.
