Michelle Emblenton, a biochemist at inviTRA, tells us what the transfer of a single embryo:

Single Embryo Transfer is the transfer of just one embryo into the recipient woman's uterus and this is the ideal standard, ideal goal, in IVF treatments. Advantages in assisted reproduction treatments and techniques are making this more and more possible and, as a result of Single Embryo Transfers, we have less multiple pregnancies, therefore having less risk to the mother and to the babies.
