What symptoms can a fallopian tube blockage cause?

By Silvia Azaña Gutiérrez B.Sc., M.Sc. (embryologist).
Last Update: 01/12/2026

Blockage of the fallopian tubes does not cause symptoms on its own. However, the underlying cause of the tubal obstruction can also produce other symptoms. For example, infections may cause abnormal vaginal discharge, or endometriosis, which is characterized by very painful menstrual periods.
