When a woman decides to visit a fertility specialist because she is unable get pregnant, he or she will require her to undergo to basic diagnostic tests:
- Pelvic ultrasound
- The purpose of this test is to see the uterus and the ovaries and check if there exist uterine malformations or uterine anatomical abnormalities. It is also used to measure the number of antral follicles.
- Pap smear
- It involves the removal of a small amount of cells from the cervix. It is used to look for the presence of infections or alterations in the cells that could compromise the woman's fertility.
In both cases, it is possible for the woman to feel some kind of discomfort afterwards, but you should know that both tests are considered to be painless and safe, so there is no reason to be afraid.
