One of the limitations of noninvasive prenatal testing (NIPT) is that its diagnostic capacity is limited and, therefore, not every genetic anomaly can be detected. Furthermore, this test is not a substitute for morphological ultrasound, as NIPT does not provide information about fetal malformations.
The accuracy of NIPT is high, but it will require confirmation with another prenatal test such as amniocentesis. The cost of this study is high and it cannot be performed through the public health system.
