When the first trimester ultrasound is performed, which is usually done in the 12th week of pregnancy, it is possible to see the number of embryos that have implanted. Therefore, it is possible to distinguish between a single pregnancy and a twin pregnancy, for example.
Secondly, this first ultrasound also allows the heartbeat to be checked and to see that the fetus is doing well. In addition, this test helps to establish the length of the pregnancy.
