Patients who have undergone assisted reproduction treatment, whether artificial insemination (AI) or in vitro fertilization (IVF), will normally have their first ultrasound scan in week 6-7 of pregnancy. This ultrasound scan confirms the pregnancy and even allows the fetal heartbeat to be heard.
