Foods high in folic acid or vitamin B9

The recommended daily amount of folic acid in pregnant women is 400-600 micrograms (μg), or 4-6 milligrams (mg).

Therefore, some foods that are advisable to consume in pregnant women are green leafy vegetables (spinach, chard, etc.), legumes, nuts and vegetables such as broccoli.

Normally, the consumption of these foods does not provide sufficient amounts of folic acid and the pregnant woman usually takes a vitamin supplement.
