The sperm formation process known as spermatogenesis lasts about 72 days and occurs in the testes. This process is altered by the presence of high concentrations of reactive oxygen species (ROS), which cause oxidative stress.
The main consequence of ROS are alterations in the plasma membrane of the spermatozoon, which makes it difficult for it to fertilize the egg. Therefore, to reduce the amount of ROS, it is important to eat foods rich in antioxidants. This will help to improve sperm production and, therefore, seminal quality.
