Can you get pregnant if condom didn’t break?

    Ashley M.

My boyfriend and I engaged into sexual intercourse and we always use condoms. There has never been unprotected sex, never ever. Besides, every time we finish we verify it is not broken or something and it was not broken, never. No holes, no cracks, nothing. The expiration date is December 2015 so it’s not possible. What are the chances of being pregnant while using condoms? Help!!

  2. Dear Ashley,

Condoms are 97% accurate, but it is very important that they are in good conditions, otherwise they may break. Storing it at room temperature, avoiding humidity, and using it correctly are essential steps to maintain their accuracy. Here I give you a basic guide on how to put it on step by step:

    1) Remove condom from package.
    2) Leave 3/4 inch at the tip of the condom.
    3) Roll it down over the penis to the base.
    4) Once the man has ejaculated, hold it on the base of the penis.
    5) Then, remove the penis away from the woman.
    6) Finally, dispose it off the partner.

Thus, although condoms are not 100% accurate, don’t panic, since if you used it correctly, chances for pregnancy are almost non-existent.

    Hope this helps.

  3. Hi dear. I do not have a personal experience on the question you asked but I want to share an incident with you. A friend of mine became pregnant after sex with a condom when as far as she was aware nothing had gone wrong. But she was fairly young and relatively inexperienced at the time so might not have noticed. I think she suspects that the man in question might have noticed something and not said anything. All the same, it is very unlikely. Have you checked with your partner to see if he noticed anything? The only other thing is that I’ve noticed in the past that when I haven’t had sex for a while and then do, my cycle often goes funny, almost as if your cycle pauses for a while to see what’s going to happen. So that could be the explanation? I also use condoms but never had such experience. I will suggest you go and consult a doctor before going to any conclusion. Don’t worry you will be fine. Be safe and stay blessed.

  4. Hello! dear. Condom is one of the method to prevent unwanted pregnancy but it is not 100 % accurate. As you said you always check the quality of condom before using it.Sometime due to the bad quality of condom it may leakage and cause pregnancy but as you said you always checked before using it.So there is no chance of getting pregnant.

  5. Yes @RoseAfandi Condom is a prevention to avoid an unwanted pregnancy as well as STDs. And yes women should understand that it is not 100% effective so that they should be more careful while using it.
