Vaginal dryness during intercourse

Hello!! Please, I’m freaking out. My boyfriend and I stopped using condoms a few months ago, because we’ve realized that my lubrication is inadequate… That was making intercourse highly unpleasant for the both of us, in fact I started bleeding the last two times and cramping immediately after orgasm. Is this because it hurts my vaginal walls? I mean, is it why I bleed and cramps show up?

  2. Dear margaret&Co,

If lubrication is inadequate, sexual intercourse may become uncomfortable or even painful. The penis brushing up against the vaginal wall may cause some damages that lead to bleeding. This cervical erosion could cause you to feel some pain after intercourse, “cramps” in your own words.

There is no link between not using condoms and sex being painful. However, some women do not lubricate adequately and this may be what is happening to you. The good news is that it is an easily solvable problem, as you can find many artificial lubricants that will help you enjoying sex as normally. They can be purchased in the pharmacy or a sex shop.

In addition, keep in mind that you should use a contraceptive method if you don’t wish to become pregnant. If you don’t want to use condoms, that’s okay, but my advice is that you visit your doctor in order to see which family planning method is the most appropriate for you. There are hormone contraceptives such as vaginal rings or V-rings, birth control pills, contraceptive implants, or injectable contraceptives.

For further information, please take a look at the following article: Family planning methods.

I hope I have been able to help,

    Regards
